Your Excellency Ms Heidy Purga
Minister of Culture of the Republic of Estonia,
On behalf of Hanaholmen – the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre, I have the honour to invite Your Excellency to deliver a keynote speech on the Estonian model for cultural heritage preparedness at the Hanaholmen Heritage Conference, to be held on 28 May 2026 at Hanaholmen, Espoo, Finland.
Hanaholmen Heritage is a Nordic–Baltic programme dedicated to cultural heritage preparedness and coordinated by Hanaholmen – the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre. The programme is initiated by the Nordic and Baltic Ministers for Culture and funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The initiative responds to the increasing awareness of hybrid, climate-related and military threats to cultural heritage. By connecting experts and institutions from across the region, the programme seeks to build knowledge, trust and long-term collaboration on preparedness and resilience.
The programme consists of both a training programme and a conference. Estonia is represented in the training programme by Ms Kadri Tael, Crisis Preparedness Manager at the National Heritage Board of Estonia, and Mr Peeter Mauer, Project Manager at the National Heritage Board of Estonia. In addition, Ms Kristi Raik, Director of the International Centre for Defence and Security in Estonia, is a member of the programme’s reference group.
The Hanaholmen Heritage Conference will bring together high-level representatives, experts and decision-makers from across the Nordic and Baltic countries to discuss the protection of cultural heritage in times of growing geopolitical uncertainty. An address by Your Excellency would be a great honour and would significantly enrich the conference.
