Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Public Administration Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Estonia [email protected] 24.03.2025 No 12-5/371-1 Recommendation letter The Estonian Folk Culture Centre is state owned public agency under the Ministry of Culture, which among other tasks provides trainings for professionals in the field of culture for more than 25 years. One important target group for the Centre are the leaders of the cultural services of local governments, as these persons have the significant task to plan and implement the cultural policy on the municipal level. To better fulfil these tasks and to answer to the needs of residents, this target group needs the knowledge on the lessons learned on international level to have necessary skills and knowledge to better cope with the challenges facing local government stemming from the global trends, changing needs of the local communities and regional disparities. The Estonian cultural policy “Culture 2030” states the importance of the role of the local government level as necessary pre-condition to achieve the goals of this policy. The Ministry of Culture of Republic of Estonia therefore recommends supporting the project “Sustainable governance in the management and development of the local government’s cultural sector, based on the experiences of Denmark and the Faroe Islands” submitted by the Estonian Folk Culture Centre to the Public Administration Mobility Programme.
