The World Health Organization (WHO) presents its compliments to Member States and
has the honour to inform them that the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre (GTMC), is
organizing the second WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit (the Summit), which will
take place in a hybrid format on 17–19 December 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India.
The second Summit, with the theme “Restoring balance: The science and practice of health
and well-being”, will focus on enhancing the contribution of traditional medicine to national
health systems and to inclusive, sustainable development. The event will include a ministerial
dialogue from 17:00 to 18:30 (IST) on 17 December 2025.
In this regard, the objectives of the second Summit are to:
(1) advance the implementation of the WHO Global Strategy for Traditional Medicine
(2025–2034), adopted at the Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly;
(2) align stakeholders on next steps to accelerate the implementation of the Global
Strategy for Traditional medicine (2025–2034);
(3) mobilize national commitments across key areas such as policy, regulation,
financing, research, and health system integration;
(4) foster knowledge and commitment among different stakeholder groups to integrate
evidence-based traditional medicine in health systems, promote access and equity,
and strengthen sustainability; and
(5) share traditional medicine national experiences related to policy and practice,
research and innovations, integration, regulation, and cross-sectoral engagement,
following up on the outcomes of the first Summit, concluding with the Gujarat
Declaration.
By blending scientific innovation with cultural wisdom, and championing regulation and
sustainability, the Summit will help advance universal health coverage and the Sustainable
Development Goals, while inspiring a global movement for health and planetary balance.
Member States are requested to nominate up to three participants from their respective
countries across different stakeholder groups with expertise relevant to the Global Summit’s
... programme (as presented in the attached concept note) to compose their delegations considering
the following possible stakeholder groups: (a) National Policy-Makers and Regulators;

(b) International and Regional Organizations; (c) Traditional Complementary, and Integrative
Medicine (TCIM) Providers and Associations; (d) Biomedical Healthcare Providers and
Professional Associations; (e) Research, Academia, and Teaching Institutions; (f) Indigenous
Peoples and Local Communities; (g) Consumers, Patients, and User Associations; (h) Civil
Society; (i) Industry and Innovators; (j) Youth, Students, and Emerging Leaders; (k) Funders and
Donors; (l) Press, Cultural Institutions, and Multimedia Influencers.

by 20 October 2025, with the following details of the nominated persons:

• In person or virtual participation
• Request for funding participation: Yes/No
All nominated participants – up to three persons per delegation – will receive the
provisional agenda and individual registration details by email to access the Summit web
platform. Requests for travel and logistics support will be coordinated by WHO in relation to
country context and availability of funding.
The working language of the Summit will be English, and interpretation will be provided
in all WHO official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish), as well as Hindi.
Video recordings of all sessions will be accessible to registered participants on the Summit web
platform after the live session to support on-demand viewing.
