Joint Nordic-Baltic Supreme Court President Meeting 2025 Dear Colleagues, The Presidents of the Supreme Courts of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, and Sweden) have a long-standing tradition of meetings. We have understood that the Presidents of the Supreme Courts of the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) have similar meetings. On the other hand, there have not been joint meetings of the whole region, though the Presidents have met individually in the context of larger European conferences or bilaterally. As we know, collegial meetings of this kind are a valuable forum for exchanging information, experiences, and ideas between the highest courts. This is especially true between the courts of neighboring countries with similar legal systems and societies. We think that there would be added value to have a joint ad hoc meeting between the Presidents of the Nordic and Baltic Supreme Courts and Supreme Administrative Courts. This would enhance the regional discussions and the sharing of knowledge of our respective courts and the development of our legal systems. We feel that particularly in this dire world situation the meeting would be of high importance. Hence, we most kindly invite you to a first ever Joint Nordic-Baltic Supreme Court President Meeting in the fall of 2025 in Helsinki, Finland. We hope that all the Presidents are able to participate, and in addition, one other representative from each Court is welcome. The meeting will be a one-day seminar in the Courts´ premises in central Helsinki, followed by a dinner in the evening. We suggest that the meeting would take place on Thursday 25th of September 2025. Another option would be one week earlier, Thursday 18th of September 2025. The event would last the whole day, so the recommended traveling times for you would be Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning. A light welcoming reception is planned for Wednesday evening. We look forward to hearing from you all in the nearest future if you can accept our invitation and if the suggested date is feasible for you. We will get back to you on the program after the date is hopefully settled.
