Letter of intent to support the implementation of the European Partnership on a
Geological Service for Europe
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
The Geological Survey of Estonia is as a national authority under the administration of the
Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. It is responsible for explore possible future
mineral resources, studying them through the principle of sustainability and environmental
friendliness. Another task of the survey is to put the geological information in order,
transforming it into an understandable form available for the whole society dealing with are
geological mapping, geological investigation, preserving geological information and ensuring
its availability, counselling governmental agencies and informing the public on geological
issues.
The Geological Survey of Estonia expresses its strong support to the launch of a European
Partnership on a Geological Service for Europe within Horizon Europe, together with a genuine
interest in becoming a core partner of this Partnership and active participant in its annual calls
and resulting projects.
The Geological Survey of Estonia also commits to engage in identifying the needed resources
and in seeking the needed support at national level among the relevant ministries and
government bodies concerned for the EP-GSE implementation, acting under the mandate of the
Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
Our final commitment in terms of co-funding will depend on the content of the final EP-GSE
proposal as well as the percentage of co-funding agreed with the European Commission.
