Dear Participants of UNCTAD’s Informal Working Groups on Competition and
Consumer Protection,
We regret to inform you that, due to the ongoing liquidity crisis affecting
the United Nations Secretariat, the informal working groups on competition
and consumer protection, on cross-border cartels, on consumer protection in
e-commerce, consumer product safety, and consumer protection and gender -
will be suspended until further notice following the 9th United Nations
Conference on Competition and Consumer Protection.
This decision will be reflected in the draft resolution of the Conference.
We sincerely thank you for your valuable contributions to and active
engagement in UNCTAD’s work in these areas.
We remain hopeful that the financial situation of the United Nations
Secretariat, including UNCTAD, will improve, allowing for the resumption of
these important initiatives in the near future.
