Dear Minister,
I am pleased to invite you to participate in the ninth session of the Conference
of Parties (COP9) to the International Convention against Doping in Sport at
UNESCO's Headquarters in Paris on 25 and 26 October 2023.
This session will have an emphasis on the reinforcement of States Parties'
ownership and capacity in implementing the Convention’s provisions, such as
refining the monitoring system, introducing a new funding category for priority
groups, and strengthening the Convention as an instrument of international public
law, among other crucial aspects.
Moreover, I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your
country's impactful role and contributions during the 2022-2023 biennium.
This Conference will serve as the primary platform for global anti-doping-related
actions. It encompasses the key topics mentioned above, providing a
comprehensive scope for dialogue. Your presence at COP9 is key in driving our
collective endeavour forward.
The provisional agenda and timetable are enclosed. All working documents will be
published on the COP9 webpage. The Conference will be held in UNESCO’s six
official languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish).
