Teema: Parents Financial Contributions to Children’s and Youth’s Extracurricular Sport
To whom it may concern,
I am writing on behalf of the Latvian Parliament's Analytical Service. The Analytical Services is
currently conducting research on the financing of children's and youth's sport activities after school.
We would like to inquire about the extent to which parents are expected to financially contribute to
their children's and youth's extracurricular sports activities within your country.
Specifically, we are interested in understanding the financial responsibilities that parents bear when
supporting their children's participation in sports after school. Are there any mandatory financial
contributions parents are required to make for their children to join sports programs? If so, we kindly
request information on the associated costs.
Furthermore, we would like to gather insights on whether parents are expected to provide sports
equipment for their children’s participation, or if the sport organization (sport school or sport club)
generally supplies these items for the participants.
Additionally, we are interested in learning if parents' involvement in supporting sports activities is
strictly voluntary or if there are any additional financial obligations beyond participation fees and
equipment expenses.
Finding out about these aspects will help our research immensely.
