This is more horizontal issue than RED versus R&TTED requirements. That’s why I consulted with colleagues working for European Commission and got the following opinion, which I send to you. “With regard to your question below placing the CE marking inside the battery compartment (whether to be opened by a tool or just opened in a simpler way) would not satisfy the requirement for the visibility of the CE marking as set in Union harmonisation legislation.” I hope it will help you. I would like to know how to interpret the case that CE mark which marked in the battery compartment of a handset of DECT phone system.(see attached) Normally, when users installed the batteries, they must open the battery cover, thus CE mark must be visible. And this practice has been agreed by TCAM under RTTE. I checked with some Notified Body who accepted this practice. However, German Surveillance Lab said that RED doesn't follow this practice. I tried to find such kind of information but in vain and most of the DECT phone manufacturers also never heard about this information. Would you advise your comment on this situation? 1 Should you need further information, please feel free to let me know. Best Regards, Should you have any question, please feel free to contact me.
