Accordin g to Regulati o n (EU) 2022/23 71 , th e EC DC sha ll assess th e status of preve nti on, prep aredn ess and response pl anning of EU/EEA co untri es eve ry 3 years in cooperati on w ith re levant U ni on agenc ies and bodi es. The ECDC w ill co ndu ct the seco nd cyc le of PHEPA s fo llow ing a standard procedure fo r these assessments between 2027 and 2029 in a ll 30 EU/EEA co untri es. The procedure has been adapted from the o ne used in th e first PHEPA cyc le and places emphas is on the ad vances made by each co untry w hen implementing th e action pl an deve loped based o n th e findin gs from th e first cyc le as we ll as capac iti es not assessed in depth in th e fir st cycle. T he assessment team w ill use Eng li sh as a wo rking language. In case translati o n is necessary, th e most appropriate so luti on w ill be so ught togeth er with yo ur co untry to ensure good co mmuni catio n during the assess ment. If yo ur co untry dec ides not to fo llow a reco mmend ati on, it will be requ ested to prov ide th e reasons, in accordance w ith Reg ul ati on 2022/23 71. Additi onal deta il s co nce rning th e plannin g process and key e lements of the assess ment will be provided in subsequ ent meetin gs o rgani sed by EC DC in coo rdin ati on with yo ur team. Meanw hile, we wo uld like to emphasise that co mprehensive represe ntation from va ri ous re levant stakeholders during the assessment mi ss ion, inc luding di ffe rent sectors, regions and other admini strative levels w ithin the country is necessary to ensure effi c ient and meanin gful di scussio ns.
