Assembly Circular Letter No. 11 dated 20 October 2016 B. Rules of Procedure of the IHO Assembly (Rule 14) Dear Hydrographer, 1. The Assembly Circular Letter at Reference A invited Member States to nominate suitable candidates for election as Chair of the 1st Session of the IHO Assembly. At that time, the Secretariat identified that Dr Parry OEI, Chief Hydrographer and Director of the Port Services of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the current Chair of the IHO Inter Regional Coordination Committee (IRCC), was a suitably qualified candidate. 2. The comments received in response to Reference A are supportive of Dr Parry OEI and no other nominations have been proposed. Therefore, the vote by correspondence provided for in Reference B [Rule 14 (b)] is not necessary. The name of Dr OEI will be put forward as Chair-elect for confirmation by the Assembly in accordance with Reference B [Rule 14 (f) (i)] at the start of the first plenary session on Monday 24 April 2017. 3. The Secretariat congratulates Dr OEI on his nomination as Chair of the Assembly. The Secretariat will arrange a preparatory meeting with Dr OEI in due course to review Assembly procedures and arrangements in preparation for the Assembly.
