Accelerating action for healthier people, a thriving planet, a sustainable future Date: 28 September 2023 CIRCULAR LETTER TO THE MINISTERS OF HEALTH AND THE MINISTERS OF ENVIRONMENT OF ALL MEMBER STATES OF THE WHO EUROPEAN REGION Dear Sir/Madam, Seventh Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health Budapest, Hungary, 5–7 July 2023 I am very pleased to draw your attention to the main outcomes of the Seventh Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health, generously hosted by the Government of Hungary in July 2023. At the halfway point in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Conference defined a renewed environment and health agenda for the WHO European Region by adopting the Declaration of the Seventh Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health (Budapest Declaration). 1 A key outcome of the event was the launch of the European Environment and Health Process Partnerships, which will bring together countries and partners with a shared interest in a specific thematic area to work together on joint projects and activities. 2 The European Environment and Health Task Force (EHTF) will oversee the implementation of the Conference commitments at international level. The next meeting of the Task Force is tentatively planned for early 2024. Please communicate by email to the WHO Secretariat ([email protected]) any changes in the EHTF membership of your country, providing the names and contact details of any new focal points. The WHO Regional Office for Europe, through its European Centre for Environment and Health in Bonn, Germany, stands ready to support Member States in implementing the Conference commitments. Yours very truly, Dr Hans Henri P. Kluge Regional Director Encl.: Budapest Declaration 1 See: https://www.who.int/europe/publications/i/item/EURO-Budapest2023-6 2 Details of the Ministerial Conference, including all documentation, are available on the WHO website: https://www.who.int/europe/event/seventh-ministerial-conference-on-environment-and-health.
