Answer to the Notification under the
directive regarding the Eu ropean
investigation order in criminal matters
The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Estonia would like to thank the Ministry of Justice of the
Republic of Lithuania for the information that the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania
intends to make a notificafion under Article 34(4) of the Directive 20141411EU of the European
Parliament and of the Council of 3 April 2014 regarding the European Investigation Order iri Criminal
Matters. The co-operation in gathering evidence in criminal matters based on the Agreement
between the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Estonia and the Repubhc of Latvia on Legal
Assistance and Legal Relations, signed in Tallinn on 11 November 1992, has been successful. From
22d of May 2017 onwards, we would like to continue our fruitful co-operation in the field of gathering
eviclence in criminal matters using the possibilities offered by the European Investigation Order. We
are of the opinion that this new instrument with ts standard forms and time limits wiII make the co
operation in criminat matters even more effective and efficient.
The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Estonia avaus itself of this opportunity to renew to the
Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania the assurances of its highest consideration.
